When using the “Carb Entry” feature of the iOS Loop app, you are given a choice of three default icons and absorption times. These include the lollipop (30 min), taco (3 hrs), and pizza (5 hrs). An additional icon, a white dinner plate, allows you to select from a limited variety of icons to better represent your carbohydrate equivalent source.
An often unused feature is the “abc” selector at the bottom left of that screen. This allows you to notate your carb entry with text, which will appear on your Nightscout reports. You can also select the full range of emojis from this keyboard. This includes many more graphic elements, which you can use along with text to document your meals. When used with the “Favorite Foods” feature in Loop 3.4, it can be even more powerful in helping you review and adjust your glucose management.
The screenshots below illustrate the steps involved in using this functionality. We hope this helps you better understand and manage your glucose entries.
